Rugby: Six seasons of mini rugby comes to an end for Pocklington under-12s

After six seasons of mini rugby, Pocklington Under 12s completed another memorable campaign with an end of season tour to Nottingham followed by their awards day back at the club.

Pocklington’s ‘warm up’ on tour consisted of a Saturday afternoon’s rock climbing, followed by playing in the Ilkeston festival on Sunday.

Pocklington set off like a train, winning all three group games with tries from Charlie Laudage (two), Will Husband (three), Alex Todd and Will Ackerely to finish top of the group and go into the semi-final.

In the semi, Pocklington conceded their first try of the day, but the Pock lads came back with Will Husband catching the kick-off and running through the opposition before offloading to Alex Todd who crossed to level the scores. Then Charlie Laudage grabbed the winning try to put Pocklington into the final.

In the final, Pocklington met a powerful Derby outfit, and it was no discredit to Pocklington as their earlier exertions caught up with them and Derby ran out 5-0 winners.

Despite having to settle for the runners-up spot, it was a fun-packed weekend and a great end to both the season and their mini rugby careers as the boys now look forward to full pitch rugby next season.
