Pocklington Runners tackle York Road and Kirkbymoorside races

Pocklngton Runners hosted the first race in this years York Road Race League.

The annual event which attracts no less than nine local clubs battling it out in series of 10k road races throughout the summer

Simon Rycroft was first to cross the finish line at the rugby club for Pock in a time of 38:02, which earned him fifth position in his age catagory. Simon Richardson ran an excellent time with an awe inspiring 39:48 winning the M60 cat, and Claire Davidson just pipped Alison Thornton into second place in the F45 catagory with a fantastic time of 43:26.

Emma Watson was rewarded with fifth in the F35 cat with a time of 44:36, and Jackie Robinson stands fourth in the F65 cat with a great run finishing in 58:37. The ladies team stands first in the league after this first race!

A great effort from all Pocklington runners and the club is proud to congratulate everyone who once again contributed to make the race a success.

Kirkbymoorside’s annual 10k road race attracted no-less than 433 runners, who stomped up the infamous steep hill start to this popular race.

Seven runners from Pocklington were in the mix with Steven Worth first to finish for Pock in a fantastic time of 38:29, Ed Rawlings 40:48, Richard Ginn 40:54, getting faster with all the recent hill training came Mike Pullon in 41:43, Simon Rycroft finished a little slower than Teusday s effort crossing the finish line in 42:26, Paul Holmes with a great effort finishing in 48:01 and finally Pocks only lady in the race Debbie Rycroft finished in a brilliant time of 51:14 over a miniute and 15 seconds quicker than her previous year’s effort.

Some excellent times on this a tough undulating course.
