Pocklington under-nines travelled to Selby festival where they drew West Park, Dinnington and Selby in their pool.

Pocklington were first up against West Park.

As the game got underway, Pocklington knew it would not be an easy one.

Pock lost 5-1 with Will Jones scoring the only try of the game.

Pock’s second game was against Dinnington, where the boys pulled together and stepped up to give a good all-round performance to win 5-1 with Flynn Sangwin and Archie Wilcock scoring two tries each and Will Jones scoring one.

Pock’s third game was against Selby where the boys had a good first half performance with Sam Sellers scoring a hat-trick and Archie scoring two.

However, in the second half the boys switched off a little, allowing Selby back in the game.

The final score was 5-4 to Pock.

So, that meant Pock had come second in their pool and would go through to the semi-final where they would face Hull Ionians.

The boys knew this would be a hard game but they dug deep and put their bodies on the line.

Unfortunately, it was not enough and Pock lost 4-3 with Will Jones scoring two tries and Archie getting one.

It was an outstanding performance from the whole team.
