Pocklington under-11s met York in the second round of the Yorkshire Cup last Sunday. With a calm and mild morning, and a bit of local rivalry, quite a crowd had gathered to watch the match on the main pitch at the club.

York kicked off and the game was on, both forwards were straight in with some aggressive rucking and mauling, both defences were strong, making great tackles. However, York broke through Pocklington’s line quite early on in the first half to score the first try of the game but failed to convert. Pocklington came back with great determination but, despite a monumental effort, they were denied the chance of a comeback, despite reaching York’s try line.

York pushed back, with Pocklington putting up a great fight but not enough to hold back York for their second try, again York failed to convert. Pocklington kept their heads held high and battled right up to the whistle, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be with York scoring another try and conversion.
