POCKLINGTON School’s under-12s seven-a-side girl’s hockey team came top in a regional mini-hockey tournament held at Hymers College in Hull.
Thirteen teams entered the competition and were divided into two groups. Pocklington came first in their group and went through to play St Olave’s in the semi-final.
The girls won this match 1-0, which took them through to meet Wakefield Girls’ High in the final – which they went on to win convincingly.
Mrs Margaret Newhouse, assistant director of sport at Pocklington School, said: “Pocklington were dominant from the start and they scored the first goal very quickly.
“This was followed by two more goals leading to a convincing win of 3-0. This meant that Pocklington School were overall winners.
“It is to be noted that throughout the whole tournament the girls did not concede a goal. Well done to the girls, who played some superb hockey.”
The schools taking part in the tournament were: Hull Collegiate, St Olave’s, Sheffield Girls’ High School, Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, Wakefield Girls High School, Rishworth, Scarborough College, Hymers College, Queen Margaret’s, GSAL, Hill House and Silcoates.
