Easy victory for Pocklington team

Pocklington........................................................................13

Chapeltown..........................................................................1

A convincing win for Pock started out fairly evenly-matched, although Chapeltown were down a player.

Pocklington opened the scoring with a strike from Steph Jackson, then faltered briefly when Jo Ryan bravely defended an attack on goal with an out-stretched arm, the consequence being a split hand and ‘surgery’ on on the side of the pitch.

Chapeltown began to show gaps in defence and couldn’t hold Pock back, quickly conceding a few goals from Liz Bramley and Lisa Sellars, Pock being up 4-0 at half time.

The second half showed some more determined play for Chapeltown, showing strength in their midfield and some confident accurate passing. But the Pock defence, refreshed regularly with well-appreciated substitutes, were too strong and only conceded one goal during the whole game.

A number of short corners were quickly dealt with, Louise Grainger and Rachel Heath working well as a team to calmly clear the ball from danger. In response, the forwards rallied together and took no prisoners.

A well-struck goal straight through the goalie’s shins from Jan Anderson took them to 5-1. Then some superb attacking play, Justine Selvey and Georgina Chapman working tirelessly on the right to get balls across the circle, resulted in an amazing nine consecutive goals from Lisa Sellars, whose finish was on fire.

With only three games of the season to go, Pock were thrilled with a 13-1 win.

Pocklington are planning to go on tour this summer and enter the Beeston sevens. They are looking for any sponsorship to help with providing kit or just contributing towards supplies for the trip. If any business is willing to support them, please phone 07725 481334. Thank you.
