The past week has been a hot and busy time for Pocklington Runners.
Wednesday evening saw the final race in the York Road Race League 2013 over at Wistow on the outskirts of Selby.
The race is renowned for being a fast flat course for the runners who look to put in their best efforts for a good time.
Steven Worth was first home for Pocklington in a great time in the heat, crossing the finish line in 37:48 .
Local Ironman Richard Ginn kept up the pace, completing the 6.2 miles in 38 minutes 19 seconds.
Simon Rycroft kept a constant average of 6:16 per mile to finish in 38:56.
Stuart Smith ran a cracking time finishing in 40:05, with Patrick Piggott putting in a fantastic race finishing with 40:12.
The mens team finished in a very respectable fourth place overall in this year’s series.
Kev Norman claimed fourth spot in the M50 category, and Simon Richardson secured pole position in the M60 category.
The ladies of Pocklington have had some fantastic results in this year’s series with Alison Thornton racing home at Wistow in 43:57, Ema Watson crossing the line in 44:18, Clare Davison finished in 44:37 and Linsay Cameron in 47:06.
The Ladies team from Pocklington have finished in second place in the league this year with Alison Thornton winning the F45 category overall and Clare Davison runner up.
The Runners have fared well in the summer league overall, with some very encouraging turn outs for races.
The handicap race and awards evening takes place at Stillington on 23 July.
On Friday evening, the Walkington 10k took place with Lucy Hammond representing Pocklington Running club.
Lucy, who had a very busy week of racing after Wistow on Wednesday evening, finished in a very respectable time of 58:18.
She also completed The Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10K on Sunday, showing no signs of fatigue through the sunshine and heat Lucy finished in a P.B time of 55:20.
Well done to all the runners who braved the summer heat in a busy week.
