Katrina Stanton is set to join younger sister Hannah in the GB Biathle team.
Both competed at this weekend’s first round of the GB series. Not only were there positions on the track to be gained, but qualification for the World Series in Italy and the European championships in Portugal. Hannah went first in the second heat of the girls group D category. She ran a steady first 500m and used the swim to get into second place. During the final 500m run she struggled, but put a good sprint finish in to win the heat in the final metre. Hannah’s time was a good PB and reinforced her place on the GB team. Next it was Katrina’s turn to run, which she did with great determination. During the transition period and swim Katrina caught up a number of places. Then it was time for the final 500m run to the line. Katrina did this with courage, meaning that she smashed her PB by 40 seconds and qualified for both the World Series and the European Championships. Both girls would like to thank their coaches for all their help.
