Last year’s Allerthorpe Park golf club captains have raised over £2,000 for charity during their captaincy year.

Peter Turner and Sheila Burton chose the Humber NHS Foundation Trust cardiac rehabilitation service as their charity for 2011.

Members of, and visitors to, Allerthorpe Park golf club were asked to make a donation to the charity if their ball went in the lake following their tee shot on the 18th hole. Donations were asked for on club competition days that were sponsored, the ladies section held raffles and members were generally reminded throughout the year to dig deep for the captains’ chosen charity.

Peter and Sheila were delighted to hand over a cheque for £2,350 to Jayne Fenwick, chairman of Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Jayne Fenwick thanked Peter and Sheila for all their hard work throughout the year and assured them the donation would be spent locally and that it was very much appreciated.

The Humber NHS Foundation Trust cardiac rehabilitation service has been used by some of Allerthorpe Park golf club’s members and was chosen by Peter and Sheila for very personal reasons.
