There are still 11 games to go for Jason Gillespie’s side, but they will have been buoyed by their win at home to Surrey, which came just days after they nearly pulled off a stunning run chase against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, only to be forced to shut up shop once they were down to just one wicket remaining.

As expected, a trip to Taunton produced a draw on a tame wicket, with Yorkshire having to dig deep against Chris Rogers’s team after their hosts had opened up with 562-7 declared in their first innings.
