Game of two halves for Barmby Moor Whites

The Barmby Moor Whites welcomed Thorpe United Blues on Saturday. Conditions were cold and very windy.

Thorpe Blues are impressive and well organised – passing the ball nicely, strong in defence and good at holding their shape.

Both teams worked really hard and showed great sportsmanship, and there were some cracking goals.

The first two quarters saw a lacklustre performance from the Barmby Whites and several misplaced passes.

But the final 30 minutes were very entertaining to watch, after an inspiring half-time team talk.

Toby was outstanding at left back and also in goal, where he saved a penalty that the Barmby Whites had conceded. Harry F worked really hard upfront in the second quarter, making some great passes.

Tommy worked really hard and put in a lot of effort and is developing each week. Archie was strong and tough both in goal and the outfield, creating lots of chances and putting in a couple of perfect corners.

Flynn made the most of his chances, scoring an awesome goal from the edge of the box into the top left corner, and hitting the crossbar with another shot. Jake and Harry M worked exceptionally hard, making some really important interceptions and clearing the ball.

Sol’s skills are developing every week and he made some accurate passes and excellent throw-ins, despite the gusty wind.

Will demonstrated some top footwork and consistent ball control, and was unlucky not to score, hitting the post on one occasion.

Thank you to Luca for writing this report, whose own performance included strong defence work, creating goal-scoring opportunities.
