Knottingley are a very strong team and fantastic to watch. They hold their shape well and play great one touch football with lots of intelligent passes.

It was clear that Barmby wanted this win and they pressed the ball with high intensity from beginning to end, working hard to restrict Knottingley’s time on the ball. The first goal of the match came from Will after a great corner taken by Archie. Barmby fought hard to maintain their advantage but Knottingley equalised towards the end of the first half with an outstanding goal from a swift counter attack.

Going into half time level at 1-1, Barmby knew they couldn’t let their energy levels drop for a second. Barmby upped their work rate even further, taking the game up a gear.The winning goal came from Flynn wh,o with five minutes left remained composed, despite the pressure, and made the most of a chance slotting the ball past the keeper.

Team captain Luca led by example with masses of effort. He was strong on the ball and made relentless challenges.Harry M’s performance was critical, particularly as the last line of defence where nothing got past him. Sol challenged well and made a great run up the wing, evading several players before he was brought down, giving Barmby a free kick.Jake remained focused throughout at right back, standing up to all challenges and clearing many important balls.Toby put in his best performance in goal so far and protected Barmby’s 2-1 lead by making a crucial save on the line in the second half.Archie dominated the left side in both midfield and defence, taking great free kicks and pressing the ball constantly. Harry F and Tommy remained passionate throughout the game and played a key role in supporting their team until the final whistle. Will’s intelligent play and excellent possession of the ball completed this standout performance from the whole team.
