Sunday saw the boys face Fulford in the final league game of the season, Pocklington got the game underway and soon had Fulford under pressure forcing an early corner.

Fulford dealt with the corner well and broke forward but Ryan McCann was on hand for Pocklington, covering well at the back before releasing the ball to Jamie Walker on the right wing.

Pocklington continued to push forward having most of the early play, Will Snook causing lots of problems, on this occasion finding Harry Cooper who despite coming under pressure from three defenders still managed to get his shot on target, forcing a good save from the Fulford keeper.

Pocklingtons continuous pressure forced another corner, this time swung over by Charlie Buckle, met by Josh Broadbent who picked out Dan McCrum who was unlucky to see his shot saved at the post by the keeper.

Fulford responded well forcing their way up field, but Lewis Gilmour in the Pocklington Goal was alert getting down to save well.

Pocklington pushed forward again with some good play by Jack Creaser putting the Fulford keeper under pressure, his clearance only coming out as far as Dan McCrum who reacted well picking up the ball and firing his shot home into the bottom corner to give Pocklington a well deserved 1-0 lead.

Fulford hit a high ball forward from the re start but Luke Kirby headed the danger away, Fulford broke down the wing but were thwarted by Harry Blades before Jamie Walker picked up the ball finding Will Snook who pushed forward playing a lovely ball through the defence for Josh to run onto to score Pocklingtons second making it 2-0.

Will Snook combined with Jamie Walker well, Jamie’s cross met by Harry Cooper who’s shot was cleared just in front of the goal line shortly before the half time whistle.

Pocklington made some changes at half time with Tommy Alston, Tom Snowball and Will Ella all coming on, the fresh legs stretching Fulford further and forcing a early corner, the corner whipped in by Josh Broadbent and met well by Tom Snowball to header in Pocklingtons third.

Fulford tried to push forward but were continually contained by the Pocklington back line, Ryan McCann and Luke Kirby very comfortable and snubbing out Fulford attacks with ease.

Charlie Buckle was pushing forward up the left wing allowing Harry Cooper to push forward, Harry forcing a good save from the keeper and forcing a corner, Ryan up for the corner picked up the loose ball on the edge of the area, his effort cannoned off the defender for yet another corner.

Fulford were clearly very rattled by the Pocklington pressure, the defender wrestling Josh Broadbent to the ground just outside the box, Josh got up to fire the free kick into the rood of the net to make it 4-0. Tommy Alston cleared Fulfords long ball to Will Ella who had the defenders beaten for pace but the keeper came out well to clear.

Pocklington continued to pressure with Will Snook playing a delightful ball splitting the defence, Josh latching on to this and rounding the keeper to make it 5-0.

Pocklington weren’t finished yet, pushing forward again forcing another corner, this whipped in by Charlie Buckle and met by Harry Cooper to make it 6-0.

This was a great performance by the boys who dominated from the start and a fitting way to finish off a great league season, the boys finishing second in the league, having the best goal difference and the best defensive record. The boy’s final game of the season will be a Cup Final against Poppleton on Bank Holiday Monday.

Final score Pocklington 6 Fulford 0, Man of the Match awarded to Josh Broadbent.
