Stamford Bridge Scorpions, sponsored by Direct Tile Importers, finally secured their first league win of the season with a comfortable away victory at Tockwith.

From the start, the Scorpions looked the stronger team and soon came close with a fine run and shot from Natalie Hart. Millie Templeman corners were causing panic in the home defence and, after Olivia Cant had almost netted, a half clearance fell to Alex Harvey whose powerful shot just went wide. The Scorpions defence had little to do, but almost got caught napping when Tockwith broke, but they could only shoot wide under pressure from Vicky Sands.

With Templeman bossing the middle of the park it was only a matter of time before the Scorpions scored. After a number of passing moves between Templeman, Olivia Cant and Emma Orton it was a loose clearance that finally undid Tockwith. It was no surprise when it was Templeman who pounced and, after creating space, she struck a fine drive into the top corner.

The second half was more of the same and, having made a number of fine runs, Hart was rewarded when she expertly steered a Templeman through ball into the Tockwith net. At the other end, substitute keeper Ellie Barker hardly had a touch as Ella Spanton easily cleared any danger from the home side.

It should really have been more for the Scorpions, but after Hart’s cross evaded Sophia Hull in the box and then Templeman could not convert a superb lofted through ball from Harvey, the game ended 2-0.
