Beverley tennis ace Jazzi Plews progressed to the third round of the AEGON Junior National Championships today in Nottingham.
Plews breezed through her second round draw against Megan Rogers, conceding only one game, 6-1, 6-0 at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.
The 14-year-old, who is the No.1 seed at the championships, will now face Ema Lazic in the next round.
Plews said: “I was pleased with the way I played in that match. She was a difficult opponent and she played some great winning shots, but I think I handled it well and played a good match.
“It’s always good to start well in a tournament and the match wasn’t too long but I really had to concentrate and get my head in the game so that I set the tone for the rest of the tournament.”
The AEGON British Junior National Championships is the national level junior tournament and has seen past champions including British number 1 Andy Murray and Elena Baltacha.
