Unfortunately it is a signs of the times, with cricket not being played in schools anymore, that local clubs diminish and bigger clubs rule the roost. Local cricket clubs, like Barmby Moor, are losing players and support.
Barmby Moor cricket club is a lovely club with a range of players from those in their twenties to family men, who bring their children to matches to teach them the values of team work, morale and keeping fun in sport.
Barmby Moor cricket club needs you - like so many other cricket clubs, they are on the brink of closure - because of the recession, larger clubs and other factors which interfere with the normalities of the country’s pastimes.
There has been a cricket club at Barmby Moor for over 100 years. They have risen from the ashes to win division three in 2006, in their first year in the Vale League, were promoted to division one in 2007, won the Vale League again in 2008 and the HPH Cup in 2009. They are now sitting in division two of the Vale League and want more players to keep the club going up and up. They also have amazing teas!
Cricket is a fun sport (contrary to popular belief!), which combines team spirit, morale and friendship and instils confidence and health into whomever has the pleasure of playing.
If you want your husband, boyfriend, father, sister, cousin or child to inherit some of these skills, then please ring Jimmy at Barmby Moor Cricket Club on 07791 111292 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The club is also on facebook - barmbymoorcc and on twitter @barmbymoorcc.
