On Saturday Pocklington 1st team were at home to fellow division one strugglers Crayke.
Both teams were hoping to take something away from the game that was kindly sponsored by B J Fennell Insurance Brokers.

The afternoon started promisingly for the home team when, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first they made a stead
y start reaching 40 for the loss of 1 wicket with Mat Atkinson and Ted Donkin making good progress.

Donkin was then out caught in the slips which then prompted a batting collapse that would have made England proud - six wickets falling for just 10 runs before skipper Ian Camwell and Dan Boneham steadied the ship somewhat. But despite their efforts the damage was done and Pock were all out for 105. Not enough - or was it?

Crayke began their reply aggressively before the Pock bowlers gained some control, Gregg Nesbitt in particular bowling accurately, taking the first wicket to fall.

The visitors continued to make steady progress towards their total until they reached 53. Then the introduction of spin into the attack from Ben Rees bought about a dramatic turn around. Rees took two wickets in his first over and then Alex Downey, who had just replaced opener Joss Room, got in on the act, taking a wicket in his first over, too.

All of a sudden Crayke looked in trouble at 59-4.

Pocklington proceeded to take three more wickets and it always looked like they had a chance.

But sadly for the home team Crayke got to their total for the loss of seven wickets, leaving Pock reflecting on another disappointing batting display and pondering what difference another 20 runs would have made.
