In a tightly contested first half, neither side really tested the goalkeeper until the 25th minute when Gary Marriott’s long-range strike was parried away for a corner.

Pocklington were working hard to harry the opposition and broke well with some nice link play between Phil Kendra, Sean Cooney and Tom Connell.

In the second half, Rawcliffe pressed hard. Glen Andrews was forced to make three excellent saves in quick succession and Alex Gurnell made a number of last ditch tackles at full stretch.

Pocklington continued to chase down well and were strong in the middle of the park, with the frustrated opposition resorting to rather desperate, long range efforts.

The visitors were almost hit on the counter when a clearance from defence broke to Gary who was through on goal but unluckily, he put the shot wide.

With four minutes remaining, Rawcliffe were awarded a penalty but Glen made himself a hero with a brilliant double stop and battling Pocklington had earned a great point against one of Division One’s leading teams.
