THE Stewart Bowling Club will be hosting its annual Whistle Stop Competition on Sunday 17 August at the Green in Burnby Lane.
Twenty teams, comprising 80 bowlers from across East Yorkshire and York District will be taking part.

The event is sponsored by Pocklington Window Centre and Specsavers of Pocklington.

Bowling commences at 10.30am and during the day each team will play five matches of 40 minutes duration - the start and finish of each match is signalled by a whistle, hence the competition name. The winning team receives a prize of £100 and the runners up £20.

Club President Terry Rogers told the Post: “This very popular event has been running for many years and the number of teams entered this year is a reflection of the reputation of the club and its facilities.

“Spectators are very welcome and refreshments will be available throughout the day.”
