The last league encounter for the Predators this season was at home to the already confirmed Division 1 runners up Bishopthorpe.

Unfazed by the opposition Pocklington soon earned their first corner which saw Nathan
Smith’s glancing header shave the wrong side of the post.

Bishopthorpe immediately countered but Harry Crusher shepherded the ball out for a goal kick.

The next opportunity fell to Ellis Kennedy whose goal bound shot deflected wide for a corner.

Both teams struggled to break down each other’s defences, giving nothing away although a half chance fell to Huw Jones who tried to lob the keeper but to no avail.

Jack White and Harry continued to dominate the defensive areas and their timely challenges started to frustrate the opponent’s talented striker.

Winger Robert Cooney worked tirelessly to offer an outlet and relieve the pressure and Pock did look dangerous but just lacked the one killer pass in the final third that could break the dead lock.

The dying minutes saw the defining moment of the game. A superb ball put the Bishops’ striker through with only the Predators ‘keeper Alex Varley to beat. Alex came out, made himself big and forced the attacker wide into the path of the retreating Harry Crusher who cleared the ball to safety.

Great goal keeping and excellent defending! A good result for the Predators who certainly earned their point.
