Pocklington Cricket Club start the new season this coming weekend with all three teams involved in league matches on Saturday 26th April.
Weather permitting the Burnby Lane ground will play host to Huntington from the York and District League Division 5A and Selby from the York Vale League.

Meanwhile the 1st XI are away at Heworth.

Captains for the 2008 season are Ian Camwell (1st XI), Gary Milner (2nd XI) and Steve Relf (3rd XI).

On Sunday 27th the Intermediates host their first game against Fenners and are hoping to field a strong side under the captaincy of Sam Vale.

The club would like to express its thanks to the groundsmen, Mike Smith and Mike Smith for their hardwork in getting the pitches ready under difficult conditions, and the volunteers who have assisted with both the clubhouse and ground preparation.

Pocklington 1st XI (v Heworth, away) I Camwell, J Chaplin, J Room, N Jackson, K Hinch, G Nesbitt, A Downey, B Rees, T Donkin, H Mitchell, A N Other.

Pocklington 2nd XI (v Huntington, home): G Milner, S Hill, R Williman, R Bower, D Croft, I Jozefowicz, P Gray, J Saltmer, M Croft, J Woodward, A N Other.
