Rearranged matches are now being played , but unfortunately the weather has been of monsoon proportions and so not many have actually taken place!
The Men’s first team have two matches to rearrange and depending on the outcome could put them within grasping distance of the cup. So come on boys, knuckle down and let Pocklington be the champions of all three divisions in the Driffield League!

Pocklington men’s D team are finishing the season in style. The final three re-arranged matches are crucial for their chances of promotion.
At Harpham on Wednesday the team won by 7 sets to 2 with David Maultby and Kevin Beattie outstanding, winning all three of their games. The “puffers” Gavin Smith and Mark Smith ran all three of their games to the wire with 7-all tie breaks, winning two. Chris Bond and Mark Danby also won two.
The following night on the grass courts at Driffield the team went one better with the pairs Nigel Bartram and Chris Bond, and Kevin Beattie and David Maultby comfortably winning all three games and Gavin Smith and Mark Smith dropping a single set.
Pocklington Men’s York 1st team played at home against Bishopthorpe on Sunday and putting out a strong team convincingly beat their opposition. This win ensures they are champions of Division 4 and promoted to Division 3 for next season.
Pocklington 2 York team continued their impressive run of wins with a victory over visitors York 4 on Sunday.
Keith Hopkins and Barry Johnson had a difficult first set against the visitors' number one pair but soon found their winning form with convincing scores against the other two pairs in the York 4 team to contribute 23 games.
As expected, the formidable pairing of Matt Jones and Adam Harvey were Pocklington's top pair once again, winning 24 games in the team's overall tally of 64 games against the visitors' score of 44 games. David Maultby and Nigel Bartram also played with determination and focus to help the home side secure an important victory.
Pocklington 2 are now third in the Division 7 table and need the winning run to continue, particularly in the two forthcoming matches against Civil Service 2 who are top.
The annual club tournament will commence next week, all players of the club can enter, singles, mens, ladies and mixed doubles take place in what is a fun end to the season.
Matches take place most nights with some hard fought battles played. Spectators are most welcome to come down and watch but no barracking is allowed, only encouraging remarks from the side lines please.
