Pocklington Under 9s v
Heworth Under 9s

Game One

Pocklington 1

Heworth 2

THE first game was evenly balanced from kick off with both sides pressuring their opponents.

Both teams held their positions well and were quick to counter at every opportunity with
the first goal coming from Heworth after only two minutes.

But Pocklington came back with a vengeance with attack after attack coming from a strong midfield made up of Harry Green, Toby Russell and Cameron Cree.

Cameron, Joe Richardson and Harry had all had good shots on goal but to no avail.

Pocklington came out from half time knowing what they had to do, but Heworth had managed to find a new gear and started to put Pocklington under more pressure.

At the back, Jonathon Hardisty, James Anderson and Louis Pearcy ensured Pocklington stayed firmly in the game.

And the home side continued to battle well in midfield, gaining their reward on 27 minutes when Joe passed through to Harry allowing him to slice through the defence and score from a powerful left foot strike.

But though the two teams remained evenly matched, it was the visitors who claimed victory with a last minute goal.

Game Two

Pocklington 5

Heworth 3

POCKLINGTON took control of the second game right from the start, with Owen Jones opening the scoring in the first minute.

His strike was quickly followed up with two goals from Alex Pilkington to put Pocklington three up inside the first five minutes.

The home side continued to press and by half-time both Tom Scrowston and Dan Hudson had joined the scoring frenzy making it 5-0 at half-time.

After a superb first half, subs Liam Loft, Bradley Holleran and Sam Noble, who returned after a year playing soccer in Australia, joined the squad for the second half.

But Heworth quickly showed Pocklington that they weren’t beaten and scored three quick goals.

However, Pocklington re-grouped, dug deep and took the game back to Heworth with Dan having a near miss after 28 mins.
