Handball star Liam selected for GB

MARKET Weighton handball star Liam Back has been selected for the Great Britain team.
Liam , who has been training at the Sheffield Institute of Sport, will now go to the academy in Denmark next Month (8 August) for further training and will be there until December with the rest of the GB team.

Born in Suffolk, Liam and his family moved to Market Weighton in 1987 when he was one year old, and has lived there ever since.

The 21 year old Leeds Met student - he has been doing a three year course in Sport and Exercise Science but has deferred his final year to concentrate on becoming an elite athlete at handball - last year booked himself a place on the Great Britain Olympic squad preparing for the 2012 London Games.

He was first earmarked as a future handball ‘possible’ when his Leeds Met team won a national basketball trophy, and has already travelled to Denmark several times for special training.
