Pocklington Dynamos 4
In their first season together Aaron Pheasant sponsored Dynamos have been crowned Champions of the York Mitchell Soccer League 2.
With two games remaining, Dynamos 100% record is already enough to ensure their position a
t the top of the league.
Manager Jay McGurk has created a close knit squad who play to each other's strengths. Despite being untroubled for much of the game, keeper Jack Potter has developed strongly throughout the season and has been crucial to the team’s success. The backline of George Booth and James Snowball, who with Potter in goal have only offered the opposition five goals all season, stood firm against Norwich Uniion and once again laid the foundation upon which those further upfield could build.
The midfield of Fraser Christie, Fraser Hansen and Dan Litherland was full of energy, pace and tenacity and it was Hansen who opened the scoring with what could arguably be the goal of the season. Collecting the ball just outside the area, Fraser bent one with the outside of his left foot into the top right corner.
Dynamos knew a win would secure them the championship and needed a second goal. But they had to wait until the second half before striker Ryan Redhead drilled a neat right footer from the edge of the area which acted as a catalyst in drawing a sigh of relief from the parents and a visible drop in touchline pacing.
Ryan's quick thinking was behind Dynamos third when on the right he spotted Fraser Hansen free for a short corner. Fraser quickly collected, and bent another left footer into the top right hand corner.
Throughout the second half Dan Litherland snuffed out the opposition and was rewarded with a well deserved goal midway through the half when he latched onto a ball and beat the keeper.
Maxwell Vause, Josh Hall and Matthew McGurk joined in the action and chose this stage to deliver their best performances of the season. The clock ticked on and minds wandered to their achievement and Norwich Union collect a couple of cheap goals. But the whistle soon sounded and Dymanos realised the reward of all their hard efforts.
