Yorkshire Cup
Pocklington U117
Selby U110
After numerous postponements ‘due to the big chill’ Pocklington met Selby for the second round of The Yorkshire Cup.
Having played and lost to Selby on previous occasions it was with great intrepidation the Pock boys squared up to Selby.
The first half was dominated by Pock where the forwards surged as one, maintaining defence while the backs forged into Selby's half.
The second half saw the fabulous try by Jonty Atkinson, converted by Louis Brown. The Pock boys fought a hard battle against their nemesis Selby and ultimately out performed them.
This excellent result which propels Pocklington into the semi final of the Yorkshire Cup, demonstrates their general improvement in most areas particularly rucking.
The relatively low score does not reflect the effort and determination shown by both teams.
The match provided a thrilling game of excellent rugby – all boys – playing or spectating were a credit to their team.
A huge thank you to Jonathan Atkinson who fulfilled his promise of buying every parent and child a drink - if they wore pink! we all did !
The entire squad was awarded man of the match, it was a game of great team spirit not individuals.
Thanks to players, coaches and parents of both teams – Selby were worthy opponents . Truly a fabulous match.
