Don Adams recounts his time as Chief Engineer on Minesweepers

As chief of the engine room aboard a minesweeper boat, Mr Adams would
make sure the seas were cleared of potentially fatal explosives so other
ships could pass through safely.
Mr Adams said: "The boats we used were called Brooklyn Yard
Minesweepers. They were wooden boats with iron men."
