I WOULD like to request that the person living in the Wold Road area who persists in removing bells from my cat's collar (or the collar itself if they cannot remove the bell) stops doing so.

At this time of year there are many baby birds about, and cats are natural hunters - so far, due to this person's activities, my cat has unfortunately killed two baby birds.

I have no idea as to the reasoning behind this, but since the wearing of a bell reduces the chances of a cat catching a bird by 41 per cent and a small mammal by 34 per cent, it is both cruel and unecessary.

Collars with snap clasps are perfectly safe for cats, and bells help preserve our wildlife as well.
