Letter: Ward and town councillors have different roles

The role of a ward councillor is different to a town councillor.
The role of a ward councillor is different to a town councillor.

Martin Cooper, and indeed the whole of Pocklington Town Council, need to appreciate that the role of a ward councilor is very different to that of a town councillor (Voice of Pocklington, May 12).

For the April Pocklington Town Council meeting I was informed of it only hours beforehand and for the May meeting only a week before.By that time I had other meetings organised for both evenings.

For Martin Cooper’s information, I am in communication with various East Riding of Yorkshire Council officers, Gateway, Cllr Grahame Perry, all local councils, various groups and local residents. Furthermore, I am currently in contact with his fellow town councillors to mediate an exceedingly sensitive issue.

Finally, I would like to invite all residents to forward an email address to be added to my weekly update mailing list.

Cllr Andy Strangeway

Pocklington Provincial Ward,
