Letter: Proposal needs to be addressed by the town council

Proposal needs to be addressed.
Proposal needs to be addressed.

I wish to bring to the attention of Pocklington residents the belief by Persimmon Homes that its application for housing north of the town will be passed - https://www.persimmonhomes.com/the-mile-10736

This is the proposal that is linked to the scheme termed the Pocklington Flood Alleviation Scheme which it is believed would increase the danger of flooding and catastrophic events in our town.

I believe the town council on our behalf, should make representation to ERYC about this which after all, would be appropriate such as in their objection to development on the Balk.

As with the proposal at the Balk for more than 300 houses, development to the north of the town (site marked POC C) for nearly 200 houses would be in addition to the Allocations

Document requirement for 1,200 houses. Therefore the town is under no obligation to accept this.

Apart from the additional strain on underfunded resources in the town, continued building on this scale especially in areas where commuters have to pass through town and past local schools to reach major routes, is totally undesirable.

I call on our town council to make representation to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, as they have regarding the Balk, to stop this.
