Letter: Lack of faith in council’s proposals

Lost opportunities are the fault of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Lost opportunities are the fault of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

While I bow to Stephen Fletcher’s knowledge about all the past lost opportunities to provide more car parking spaces for Pocklington shoppers, I must point out that he is directing his ire in the wrong direction.

All the lost opportunities are the fault of East Riding of Yorkshire Council in my opinion.

Furthermore, I don’t trust the planning at Beverley who show little knowledge of local communities in my view.

A prime example of this was during the building of the new library (sorry, Pocella Centre) when they were shocked to discover that the beck flowed underneath it, something that any local resident could have told them had they bothered to ask.

Personally, I dread their proposals for the town centre which I don’t think will improve parking.

As Cllr Andy Strangeway has written we need more parking spaces, not fewer.
