Cameras help safety

I feel I must comment on the article this week regarding speed cameras. The cameras are in place to help slow traffic down as many are travelling quicker than they realise.

The cameras are a reminder and these drivers maintain their lower speed afterwards, not everyone speeds up again. To suggest double white lines as a solution is a little naive I feel as many ignore such things as they ignore speed limits etc. The motorists who complain about speed cameras are generally the motorists who break the law and don’t wish to have their excessive speeding and poor driving curtailed. I wonder what Mr and Mrs Cain would think to speed cameras had one been in place near Fridaythorpe along the A166 where Mr Cain was sadly fatally injured?
