Detectamet wins its third major award this year as it receives Company of the Year 2015 from the Society of Food Technology.

Pocklington company Detectamet returned this weekend from London where it was recognised as the 2015 Company of the Year by the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology, Britain’s premier professional body of food safety practitioners.

The award for a company with less than 100 employees was presented today to Managing Director James Chrismas, with Angela Musson-Smith, the Group Managing Director, and company chairman Sean Smith at the Savoy Hotel in London and completes a momentous year for the company.

Mr Chrismas said: “To be recognised by this respected independent body of food safety specialists is a great honour.

“Over the past 12 months we have launched dozens of new products to improve food safety. We have been honoured for our technical innovation by the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce and received the Queens Award for Enterprise in Export.”

Over the past 12 years Detectamet has become one of the world’s leading manufacturer of metal detectable products and equipment for the food industry with a range of hundreds of products that help to prevent the contamination of food. The company exports its products to over 100 countries around the world.

Ms Musson-Smith added: “We strive to meet the food safety needs of the food industry and this award is a further boost to all our staff.

“In September we opened our new USA business in Richmond Virginia and we are discovering new customers every day.”
