HISTORIC ledgers and insurance plans saved from a skip many years ago will go under the hammer at an auction near York next week.
Auctioneer and valuer Matt Harris, of D.Wombell & Son, said the paperwork and ephemera related to the Leeds and Bradford areas.
“One covers “Leeds Carriers’ Warehouses” and incorporates plans with alterations of Leeds area railway goods yards, stations and the warehouses in the title, with overlaid alterations, “ he explained.
“The other is a similar volume of plans covering central Bradford.
“Both were drawn up for we think the Yorkshire Insurance Company.”
Mr Harris explained: “I thought they may be of interest too because of the human interest “discovery” story with them - the vendor was on a course in the Aviva building in Moor Lane, York some years ago and the items for auction, together with many others, were bound for the skip.
“He asked and rescued these, but sadly the others were thrown away that night - something of a Britain’s industrial heritage thrown away and lost forever.”
The sale will take place on Saturday November 10 at Northminster Business Park, Northfield Lane, Upper Poppleton.
