World War One diary sold at auction

A diary about a young officer’s experiences during the First World War went under the hammer in Melbourne on Sunday.

The diary belonged to second lieutenant Arnold Tulley Sanderson, of 4th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment.

As well as his diary, Mr Sanderson’s trio of First World War medals, World War Two Defence Medal, Royal Observer Corps medal and full miniature bar pin, were also up for auction at Melbourne Village Hall.

The diary and medals sold for £300.
