Woman made off with £50 in cash

A WOMAN stole £50 in cash from an Asda self-service till after a previous customer mistakenly left the money in the machine.

It happened at the Market Weighton supermarket at 1.50pm on 7 February when a customer had used the self service till to buy goods and used the ‘cash back’ facility.

Having requested £50 cash back from the till, the customer, who was also an employee of the store, forgot to pick up the money from the till and left without it.

A woman was then seen at the till a very short time after and is said to have seen the unclaimed money, looked around her and then picked up the £50.

She left the shop without making any attempt to hand the money over to staff.

Police are now appealing for the public’s help in identifying the woman who is described as white, in her early forties, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build and with dark hair.

She was wearing a black jacket and jeans which were tucked into purple or mauve coloured boots at the time of the theft.

Anyone with any information in connection with this incident should call Humberside Police on 101 quoting crime number 1889671.
