Plans to close a controversial access road into a new large development in Market Weighton have been welcomed by campaigning residents who claimed it would not cope with such a large volume of traffic.

The route, taking traffic through Northgate Vale to a new health centre and 49 home development, was the subject of protests before planning permission was granted last year.

However the company behind the plans, Lovel Developments, has now submitted a new application which, if successful, will create a new access road, limiting use of Northgate Vale to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
