WEATHER RELATED DISRUPTION - FORCEWIDE

Please find below a summary of wind related incidents reported to Hubmerside Police overnight between approximately 2100hrs on Wednesday 04 January and 0700hrs today.

In addition the Humber Bridge and Ouse Bridge are both closed to high sided vehicles at this time.

Motorists are urged to take extra care and beware of obstructions that may have blown into the road and pedestrians are also asked to take extra care as numerous trees have blown down and more may do so before the winds calm down.

Householders who have not yet brought their bins in after their waste has been collected are asked to do so in order to avoid them being blown into roads and causing further disruption.

2056hrs – Wingate Road, Grimsby – street light blown down completely blocking the road.

2121hrs – Riplingham Road, Kirk Ella, Hull – tree blown down blocking the road.

2146hrs – Thornton Road, Bridlington – large tree blown down into the road and pavement.

2151hrs – A164, Beverley Road, Cranswick near Driffield – tree blown down, sticking out into the road causing obstruction.

2154hrs – Pockthorpe, Kilham near Driffield – tree blown over and onto the road.

2212hrs – B1233, Newgate Street, Cottingham – tree down, blocking half the road at the junction with King Street.

2213hrs – B1249 Wansford Road, Driffield – tree blown across the road, blocking the carriageway.

2219hrs – A1174 Swinemoor Lane, Beverley – non injury minor RTC involving vehicle hitting a large branch that had been blown into the road.

2239hrs – Gowdall Lane, Snaith – tree blown down and blocking the road between Gowdall and Snaith near the sewerage works.

2312hrs – Ashleigh Court, Healing near Grimsby – brick wall blown down and obstructing pavement and slightly encroaching onto the road.

0050hrs - A1035 Norwood, Beverley – temporary barriers from roadworks causing an obstruction on the road just before the level crossing after being blown across the road.

0114hrs – Lowfield Road, Anlaby – fallen tree blocking the road outside the hospital.

0117hrs – Promenade, Bridlington – boarding from a building that is under refurbishment blown off and into the road.

0158hrs – Roxby, near Scunthorpe – tree blown down near to Roxby House on a bend and blocking the road.

0246hrs – Ferry Boat Inn, Boothferry Road, Howden – tree blown down blocking half the carriageway.

0346hrs – between Beelsby and Croxby near Grimsby – tree blown down across the road just outside the village.

0427hrs – Tilbury Road junction with Hessle Road, Hull – tree uprooted and fallen onto the road.

0635hrs – St Peters Avenue, Cleethorpes – metal flashing hanging off Lloyds TSB Bank building causing obstruction to traffic.

0651hrs – Welton near Brough – tree down in the road down to Welton Dale blocking both lanes.

All the above incidents have been dealt with and any obstructions cleared.
