Water mains to be improved in some areas of Weighton

Work is set to get underway on improving the water mains in some areas of Market Weighton.

Market Weighton Town Council has been informed that work will start next month, with Morrison Utility Services (MUS) carrying out the work on behalf of Yorkshire Water.

MUS will start work on Cliffe Road on 7 December. As the scheme progresses there will be further construction activities on Princess Road, Princess Close, Southgate and Shipman Road. The work is expected to be finished by the end of March 2016.

To enable these works to be undertaken safely there will be a need for traffic management, including traffic control signals, as and when required. The town council has been advised that it is hoped these will be kept to a minimum.

All affected areas will receive a letter prior to work starting and if it is necessary to interrupt water supplies during the work, residents will receive a hand delivered card notifying them of the dates and times in advance.

Some residents may experience some slight discolouration of water during the work but this will be temporary.

Residents can view the plans in the town council chambers, on Linegate, Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm or Fridays 9am to 1pm.

If residents have any questions call Yorkshire Water’s customer service team on 0844 8481099. The line is open from 8am to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Fridays.
