A special road show to encourage more volunteers in our region is to visit Pocklington and Market Weighton next week.
The road show is visiting as part of volunteers week (1-7 June) and celebrates the fantastic work of volunteers in their communities, while promoting volunteering to members of the public.
Run by East Riding Voluntary Action Services (ERVAS), the Road Show will be at Tesco in Market Weighton between 10am and noon on 3 June and at the Pavement in Pocklington between 10am and noon on 4 June.
Anne Watkins, Volunteer Centre Co-ordinator with ERVAS said: “As well as having a positive impact on the community, volunteering can also change people’s lives for the better. Volunteering helps you discover new skills which are invaluable to potential employers.
“You’ll meet new people, and open yourself up to a host of new experiences.
“Opportunities range from giving one hour a month to help out at a local Memory Café, or helping Vixen FM with their community radio to being involved with Altitude Adventures, helping people with disabilities to climb or scuba dive, so there’s something for everyone.”
