A blooming marvellous village produce show received more than 500 entries.

The 70th annual Londesborough Produce Show had 100 categories for people to enter, covering flowers, vegetables, baking, handicrafts, preserves and classes for children, including writing, miniature gardens and a longest stick of rhubarb with leaf competition. All classes are open to Londesborough, Shiptonthorpe, Burnby, Nunburnholme, Hayton, Goodmanham and Warter parishes.

Altogether, the show, held at the Concert Hall in Londesborough, received 547 entries, which is 50 more than last year’s event.

The show’s chairman, Guy Stephenson, who is standing down from the role this year, said: “It was very good, the best one we have had for a long while.”
