Village defibrillator fitted in phone box

Villagers in Sancton are celebrating the installation of a defibrillator in a redundant red telephone box.

Trustees of the village hall and supporters raised funds to purchase the defibrillator through the Community Heartbeat Trust. Fundraising events included a dainty tea and an exhibition on Sancton village life and its service personnel during World War Two. Donations came in from Asda in Market Weighton, Market Weighton Community Shop and individuals and patrons at the Star at Sancton contributed more than £100. The defibrillator has been installed on Low Street.
