Village choir’s new director

A community choir is tuning up for its autumn cabaret after appointing a new musical director.

The Stamford Bridge Singers have welcomed Stuart Nettleship to the group. Mr Nettleship, formerly director of music at Queen Margaret’s School in Esckrick, has directed choirs throughout the UK for many years. Rosemary Downey, a member of Stamford Bridge Singers, said: “Stuart was the preferred candidate for the post following the retirement last term of director, Michael Wiles.”
The choir’s cabaret this year is entitled ‘Just One of Those Things’ and will be performed at Gate Helmsley Village Hall on 27 September. The event starts at 7.30pm, doors will open at 7pm. Tickets cost £12.50 for adults, £5 for under 16s. Call Michael Harran on 01759 372215 for tickets.
