Views from the Pews: ‘Beach party’ held inside church

Well, the news from the pews this week (for some of the local methodist churches anyway) is all about beach parties. Beach parties you might ask? Knowing that even the nearest seaside is at least 45 minutes run by car away. Yes, beach parties, times when methodist churches are transformed into beach and seaside venues.

This year, as for the last five or so years, we’ve held a ‘Holiday at Holme’ in Holme-on-Spalding Moor Church and a beach party (this year working with some friends from the local Sure Start Centre), complete with giant inflatable, ball pool, sand pit, face painting and ice cream all round, for some 60 families in St John’s Methodist, Market Weighton.
