A VIETNAMESE man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for cultivating cannabis at a house in Market Weighton.

Khan Dang appeared at Hull Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The 35-year-old was arrested at the house on Princess Road on 24 January after local intelligence was received by police.

Officers found 411 plants on the upper floor and attic of the property, which they seized following the raid.

Typically 400 plants, like the ones found at the house, which were of varying maturity, could fetch up to £200,000 in today’s market.

When police raided the house, which is situated across from a school, they found various types of equipment used to grow the cannabis.

Altogether 13 police officers attended the scene when the discovery was made, including members of the Pocklington and Howden Neighbourhood Policing Teams, the Operational Support Section of Humberside Police and a Crime Scene Investigation officer.
