A new vicar has taken charge of five churches in and around Barmby Moor.

Reverend Jan Hardy was welcomed into her new role by The Bishop of Selby, Rev Dr John Thomson, during a service at St Catherine’s Church in Barmby Moor last Monday.

Jan is now the vicar of St Catherine’s in Barmby Moor, St Botolph’s in Allerthorpe, St Martin’s in Fangfoss, St Michael’s in Thornton and St Martin’s in Yapham. Jan comes to the area from Thorpe Hesley in the Diocese of Sheffield, which was a partnership between the Church of England and the Methodist Church. She said: “ I’m looking forward to meeting all my parishioners in my new churches and helping people find God in their lives.” Jan added that she is keen to work closely with churches from other denominations in the area.
