A TALK on horses helped pull in the pounds courtesy of a local vets, who rakes in £300 in a canter.

Battle Flatts vets in Stamford Bridge held a talk and practical session on equine aid and wound management, and eventing, led by vets Mike Jones and Kirsty Nelson.

It proved a huge success with the proceeds of the ticket sales going to Ryedale Wildlife Rehabilitation.

A spokesman for Battle Flatts said: “We have a long history of working closely with Jean Thorpe, who runs the charity, working tirelessly to help rehabilitate injured British wildlife.

“She does sterling work looking after orphaned wildlife, and pays for it all herself.

“We send all our wildlife cases up to her and would just like to provide her with some support, so we organised this equine meeting for clients.”
