East Riding of Yorkshire Council and specialist engineers are today at the scene of an incident where a 61-year-old man died after a section of a building collapsed on Cliff Road in Bridlington.

A full structural assessment of the building is due to be carried out and a police cordon is expected to remain in place and the road closed until further notice to ensure public safety.

The cordon and road closures are causing ongoing disruption in the area and police would like to thank the public for their patience and urge them to avoid the road and use diversions in place.

A post mortem examination of the man who died will be carried out later and a file will be submitted to the coroner.
