Police have confirmed that a 73-year-old male driver has died after falling ill at the wheel and crashing on Pocklington’s West Green yesterday.

At 2.19pm it is reported the man was driving a silver Ford Mondeo estate car along Cemetery Lane, Pocklington and instead of stopping at the give way line at the T junction with West Green, continued straight across the carriageway and collided with a cast iron fence, outside Pocklington School.

An air ambulance was called and the driver was airlifted to York Hospital, where he sadly died.

Officers investigating the collision are now asking for anyone who saw the driver and his Ford Mondeo just before the collision to come forward. Call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 340 of 09/05/2016.
