Three women have set themselves the challenge of a lifetime to raise thousands of pounds to help combat cancer.
Businesswomen Vicki Kress, 51, and Louise Wilkinson, 59, of Everingham, and author Clara Challoner Walker, 50, of East Cottingwith, are preparing to trek through the Sri Lankan jungle as part of their mission to raise £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The trio are already training hard for the gruelling hike, by cycling, running and walking in the Wolds near Pocklington.
The team held a Sri Lankan-themed supper to launch their fundraising drive at Woodland Grange in Everingham, which more than 100 people attended. The event featured prizes donated from local businesses, and raised more than £3,550. Additional sponsorship and donations have brought their current total to £4,650.
